The Fifth Annual NICE Conference on Rehabilitation (NCORE 2024) was successfully held on November 10, 2024, at Hotel Shenbaga, Pondicherry. Themed “Driving Quality in Rehab,” the conference brought together healthcare professionals, pediatricians, rehabilitation therapists, and postgraduate medical to discuss advancements in pediatric rehabilitation. The event featured an engaging mix of scientific presentations, interactive quizzes, and in-depth discussions on topics such as Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), Cerebral Palsy (CP), and various speech and language disorders.
The inauguration ceremony commenced with a welcome address by Dr. S. Subramanian, Director of NICE, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by dignitaries. Notable guests, including Dr. S. Balasankar, Dr. Vadivelan Kaniappan, and Padma Shri Prof. Dr. Nalini, were felicitated. The keynote address was delivered by Prof. Dr. Sivaprakasham, Chief Guest and renowned Developmental Pediatrician, who emphasized the importance of quality and innovation in pediatric rehab practices.
Key sessions covered contemporary management and care standards for DMD, feeding challenges in neurologically impaired children, and the role of nutrition and vaccines in rehabilitation. In the “Speech in Rehabilitation” segment, experts explored interventions for motor speech disorders and communication strategies for neurodivergent children.
The event concluded with an award ceremony recognizing exceptional performances in quiz and scientific presentations, honouring the efforts of budding professionals in the pediatric rehab field.
This year’s NCore conference successfully fostered knowledge exchange, skill enhancement, and community building among pediatric rehab professionals, reinforcing NICE’s commitment to quality care in pediatric rehabilitation.
